So the NFA boys season is over.  We all knew that this year we weren't as good as last year.  But hey a team with nobody except Shane Spellman having any varsity experience running as well as we did isn't bad.  Plus the fact that we only graduate two and even though they are our top two we have probably the best freshman class in the state and at least two more that are as good as them coming in next year.  That is another thing, we ran today with two freshman.  And they didn't run bad either.  Dan Cardin almost broke 18 and Andrew Weiler wasn't too far back on a bad day.  So the way I look at it today wasn't a bad day, we ran pretty well it just showed that this year is a reloading year.  Yea that's right I said reloading cause NFA doesn't rebuild we reload.

The girls however did not look like themselves though.  Not a very good day for them but not everyone ran bad.  Sarah Egan showed that despite a 2nd place finish at ECC's she can still run with Cassy Hunter and in fact beat her.  A 4-6-13 finish isn't bad.  Plus they were still 2nd behind Gllastonbury.

Speaking of Glastonbury, OMG they looked unbelievable today.  I mean talk about a good race, Kristen Malloy won by a good fifty meters and made it look easy.  That team is gonna be real tough to beat and Kristen could very well walk away with the State Open individual title.  However, if the NFA girls run the way they did at the Wickham Invite or ECC's they could still upset Glastonbury.

On the boys side the team title could be a great race.  Both Danbury and Amity looked great today but Danbury better watch the uniform rule.  What since you are the number one team in the state that rule no longer applies to you?  These guys have been around and know the rules.  There is absolutley no reason for them to be running in two uniforms.  And the thing is that this isn't the first year.  Last year at the class meet they woar different shorts as well as broke the headband rule.  Now I work the class meets and open indoors and outdoors as an official so I know the rulebook.  You can wear the sweatbands but they must be ONE solid color and have no logo showing.  Last year they woar multicolored head bands with a logo showing as well as shorts that were not the same.  The thing is that you have to be looking for those to call them on it.  I didn't even notice it till the start of XC this year when I was looking at old pics.  This year it was just straight up obvious.  I mean the uniform in question was the exact opposite as the rest of them.  I mean you would have had to be blind to not notice it.  On the individual aspect this could turn out to be a great race between a group of runners not one or two people running away with it.  And one of those guys I can honestly say is my boy Josh Porizky.  Josh has been running great all year and I would like him keep it going with a great race on friday.

Well I guess we will have to just wait and see but friday is definitly going to be one hell of a good day of XC.
